Kelly Mark Kelly Mark is a Canadian artist whose work rephrases everyday life through post-minimal and post-conceptual strategies and aesthetics. Within her work, Mark often uses repetition to focus attention upon everyday activities and events. In Hiccup, Mark enacts the same mundane but orchestrated performance (following the prompts of pre-recorded audio instructions) over a series of days. Staged in public places, these unannounced performances place Marks synchronized routine against a changing background of everyday circumstances. For Inset, Mark projected video footage of a previous performance of Hiccup (Hiccup #1, 2000) alongside a printed transcript of the audio instructions used during the performance. In addition, Mark enacted a new version of this ongoing project in Houston. |
