For Inset, Chicago-based filmmaker and artist Deborah Stratman initiated Evacuation Routes Project. Stratman used the gallery as a station through which to solicit disaster evacuation route proposals from gallery visitors. The collected drawings and descriptions, along with others solicited through newspaper advertisments and public library meetings hosted by Stratman, will be published in the form of a calander. Each month will feature informational text describing a disaster scenario—natural or industrial—that may require evacuation.
